Prof. Hijran Huseynova, the chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs attended "II International Women's Summit" held in Ankara, on 5 December 2017.

Prof. Hijran Huseynova, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and a member of the Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party participated at the II Women`s Summit in Ankara.  

H. E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, representatives of the foreign countries, ministers, women leaders, entrepreneurs and academicians also attended the Summit.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, H. E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed his belief that this summit would bring a significant approach to the solution of women's problems. Talking about the achievements of the Republic of Turkey in the spheres of the protection of women's rights, H. E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that the Justice and Development Party of Turkey  always pays special attention to women's rights and their empowerment.

During her speech, Prof. Hijran Huseynova conveyed the greetings of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the chairperson of the New Azerbaijan Party and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and talked about the role of the New Azerbaijan Party and its Women Council for enhancing women participation in all spheres of the society.

Prof. Hijran Huseynova noted that Azerbaijan is the first country in the Muslim East granting women`s suffrage 100 years ago when the women did not have such a right in the most of European countries and the United States. The first secular school for girls in the entire Muslim world was created in Baku about 116 years ago.

The Chairperson also made speech in the panel “Working models aimed at increasing women's employment in Turkey and around the world, legal basis for ensuring gender equality in the business world and examples of women entrepreneurship”. She gave information about the state policy carried out in Azerbaijan to raise women's participation in decision-making and management, as well as active involvement of women in business. She especially stressed the importance of the Congresses of Azerbaijani Women held every five years.

Prof. Hijran Huseynova had bilateral meetings with different officials during her visit to Ankara including Mrs. Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya, the minister of Family and Social Policy of the Republic of Turkey,  Mrs. Lutfiya Selva Cham, chair of the Women's Branch of the Justice and Development Party of Turkey,  Mrs. Necdet Unuvar, the president of the Azerbaijan Friendship Group, women deputies of the Turkish Parliament and exchanged views on expansion of bilateral cooperation and future joint projects.

At the same time, the Chairperson visited Unimpeded Life Center and Love House where she met with children with disabilities and in need of special care.
