The International Day of Disabled Persons.

In 1992, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the celebration of December 3 as the International Day of Disabled Persons. The goal of that day is to draw public attention to the problems of disability and to protect the rights of all people with disabilities.

The event was organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and Shuvelan Children and Family Support Center on December 1 on the occasion of this notable date. Children with disabilities, their families, people from community who benefited from the center's services participated at the event held at the Shuvelan Children and Family Support Center.

Mrs. Jeyran Rahmatullayeva, Head of the Office of the Committee and Mr. Arif Balayev, Deputy head of Khazar district Executive Power made their speeches  and informed the participants about the attention paid by the government to the persons with disabilities and also the information about the legislation being adopted in this sphere had been highlighted during the event. Video related to work of Shuvelan Children and Family Support Center with disabled children was demonstrated, 3 wheelchairs and 5 orthopedic pairs of shoes were distributed at the end of the event.
