A round table was held on the topic "Increasing the participation of women in local self-government"

On July 20, 2022, within the framework of joint cooperation between the State Committee for Family, Women and Children and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), a round table was held on the topic “Increasing the participation of women in local self-government”.

In her opening speech, the Deputy Chair of the State Committee Mrs.Sadagat Gahramanova drew attention to the measures implemented by the State Committee in the direction of ensuring gender equality, increasing the participation and activity of women in public life.

She noted that gender commissions were established in the municipalities of 30 districts and cities of the republic to carry out systematic and coordinated work on gender issues in Azerbaijan. S. Gahramanova emphasized the role of municipalities in identifying families at risk. She also stressed the importance of gender commissions in preventing domestic violence and shaping gender relations in families, as well as increasing the representation of women in local governments.
