Experts from the CEDAW Committee praised the Azerbaijani government's programs for gender equality and support for rural women

Experts from the CEDAW Committee praised the Azerbaijani government's programs for gender equality and support for rural women. Detailed information about the report is available on the website of the organization.

As you know, on June 16, 2022, at the 82nd session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in Geneva, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs presented the sixth periodic report on the Convention on behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan.

During the report, Mrs. Bahar Muradova, Chair of the State Committee, made an introductory speech and informed the Committee's experts about the implementation of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in the country.

During the question-and-answer session, the experts praised the National Action Plan to increase women's participation in political and public life, support services for rural women, human trafficking, domestic violence, as well as the Action Plan to prevent gender-based discrimination.

In conclusion, Mrs. Bahar Muradova stressed that the dialogue with the CEDAW Committee will lead to development. Expressing her gratitude in advance for the recommendations, the Chair noted that the recommendations will be implemented by the state. She also invited the Committee to hold a local meeting in Azerbaijan.
