Bahar Muradova met with Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Olga Algayerova in Geneva

On June 15, 2022 in connection with presentation of the sixth periodic report of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the 82nd session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, Head of the Azerbaijani delegation in Geneva and the Сhairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs  Mrs. Bahar Muradova met with Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Mrs.Olga Algayerova.

Olga Algayerova expressed her pleasure of meeting with the Head of the State Committee and informed about the activities of the European Economic Commission as well as noted that the organization has a mandate in the field of environment, transport, innovation, competitiveness, population and statistics. The Executive Secretary also mentioned that they cooperate closely with UN Women at the regional level.

The Сommittee's chairperson drew special attention to the issue of de-mining the occupied territories of mines and unexploded ordnance, stressing the importance of effective international partnership in this field. She noted that accelerating the demining process is especially important for the return of former IDPs to their lands and the socio-economic reintegration of these territories.

Mrs.Muradova also highlighted that Azerbaijan has submitted its third voluntary report on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The meeting concluded with a discussion of possible joint projects for women.
