In May 2005, the 88th World Health Assembly in Geneva decided to recognize June 14 as a World Blood Donor Day in honor of voluntary blood donors.

The aim of the World Blood Donor Day is to show respect and reverence for voluntary blood donors, highlighting the need and necessity of blood donation in society and attracting more people to donate blood.

Every year the State Committee organizes blood donation campaigns for children with thalassemia and hemophilia, as well as leukemia.
