On September 13, 2021, an online meeting of the Health Committee of the Parliament was held.

According to Meclis.gov.az, the second issue on the agenda of the meeting is the discussion of the draft law "On Reproductive Health" in the list of issues to be discussed at the next session in the work plan of the Health Committee of the Parliament for the autumn session of 2021. Parliamentary hearings on reproductive health will be held during the session.

The protection and preservation of reproductive health, the formation of healthy families and family relationships is one of the most pressing issues today. Sexual and reproductive health rights are essential to the enjoyment of health, dignity and other human rights. These rights, protected by international human rights treaties, including the Convention on the Prohibition of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), play an important role in the fight against poverty and have been recognized as a central factor in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Reducing maternal and child mortality, safe births, prevention of infections during pregnancy, and quality medical care for newborns are among the areas that the government attaches special importance to in the health system.

The regular discussion of the draft law on "Reproductive Health" at the meetings of the Parliament once again demonstrates the importance of the issue. The adoption of the Law on Reproductive Health, which remains relevant today, can not only support the implementation and implementation of international obligations and standards in this area in Azerbaijan, but also play an important role in preventing sexual discrimination.
