Mrs. Bahar Muradova met with Mr. Zakari Gross, French Ambassador

Mrs. Bahar Muradova,  Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs met with Mr. Zakari Gross, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Azerbaijan on April 8, 2021.

Welcoming the guest, Mrs. Bahar Muradova Chairman of the State Committee thanked for the initiative of the meeting. Noting that the relations between Azerbaijan and France are historically based on friendship and mutual understanding, the chairperson noted that diplomatic relations between two countries were formed in the 90s and were successfully continued by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev. She also stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations, including intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary relations. Recalling the documents signed between the State Committee and the relevant government agencies of France,  she noted the importance of the projects implemented jointly with civil society including the project "Azerbaijani women in the past and today. Mrs. Muradova expressed her confidence that the visit of the French ambassador to the liberated territories after the 44-day war would play an important role in fulfilling the obligations arising from the agreements as a partner country and determining the position of the French side on a number of important issues. "Now the Karabakh the issue has been resolved as a result of Azerbaijan's own capabilities and strength, we must only think about cooperation, peace in the region, sustainable economic development and prosperity," she said.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Mrs. Zakari Gross congratulated the Chairman of the Committee on her new appointment. Noting that the French government has always recognized the borders of Azerbaijan in the framework of international law and expressed his confidence that cooperation between our countries will further strengthen.

Noting that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to grant women the right to vote in 1918, and he expressed his confident that Azerbaijan would achieve great results in ensuring gender equality.

During the meeting, the sides discussed measures to be taken in the field of protection of women's rights, ensuring gender equality, and combating domestic violence.
