The fact of early marriage was prevented in Zardab district

The State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs got information from "Clean World" Public Union that  a resident of Zardab district forced his daughter who was born in 2006 into early marriage by organizing an engagement ceremony. Relevant instructions were given to Zardab Child and Family Support Center (UACC) operating under the State Committee to investigate the appeal.

Officials of Zardab Child and Family Support Center, Zardab Executive Power and Zardab Police Department visited the family for the detailed investigation.

First of all, the minor was interviewed and it was found out that her parents forcibly engaged their 14-year-old daughter deprived her from education restricted her desire to enter higher education after completing secondary education. Thus, it was a gross attempt to violate rights of minors provided in the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The child's parents were also informed about the nature of the gross violations committed by them and their legal responsibilities under the relevant regulations.

This incident was taken under control by the State Committee and Monitoring Group on Gender-based Violence and Violence against Children operating in the Zardab Executive Power.
