The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs continues its activity to work with children repatriated from the Republic of Iraq in 2018-2020,  attract them to studies during pandemic and carry psychological, legal and social work with children and their guardians. The process of involving children in education was result of joint efforts of the State Committee, the Ministry of Education, the Azerbaijan Office of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Azerbaijan Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

This year, 125 of the repatriated children aged 5-14 have started education at 5 levels (preschool preparation, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade) in accordance with the basic level of knowledge. Online classes are held 3 times  per week for 24 groups which consists of 5-6 children.  According to the curriculum, the Azerbaijani language and mathematics are taught and information on the general subjects is provided during the classes. At the beginning of the school year, it is planned to re-evaluate the level of knowledge of children and place them in general classes according to their age. Since children's education with their peers has a significant impact on their psycho-emotional development and socialization, special attention is paid to these factors in the choice of form of education.
