A meeting of the Election Commission of the Public Council under the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs

On July 3, 2020, a special meeting of the Election Commission was held to organize the elections to the Public Council under the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.


During the meeting, the issues of organizing elections to the Public Council , determining the number of members of the Public Council and setting an election day to the Public Council were discussed.


Mrs. Sadagat Gahramanova ,Deputy Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children, Chair of the Election Commission greeted the members of the Commission and drew attention to the activities of the Public Council and the issues on the agenda. She said that in order to further strengthen the representation of civil society institutions , it is expedient to increase the number of members of the Public Council to 11 this year.
Mr.Elgun Safarov, a member of the commission and head of the Information and Analytical Research Department, said that in accordance with the "Regulations on the election of the Public Council by civil society institutions", The State Committee announced registration of candidates for the Public Council from May 14 to June 22, 2020.All application were adopted and submitted to the members of the Election Commission.


Then the members of the Commission – Mr.Mayis Aliyev, Chairman of the Public Union "Investigation of Social Rights", Mrs. Sadagat Huseynova, Chair of the Public Union "For a Healthy Life", Mr. Fuad Mammadov, President of the Simurg Azerbaijan Cultural Association, Mrs. Tarana Karimova, Chair of the Public Union “Gender and Economy”, Mrs. Venera Askerova, Chairperson of the Public Union for Social Welfare and Protection, Mrs.Taliya Ibrahimova, Head of the Legal Department of the Committee, and Mrs. Sabina Talishinskaya, Deputy Head of the Department for Gender and Women's Issues also spoke and made proposals on holding elections to the council.
Following the meeting, the protocol of the Election Commission was prepared. According to the protocol, the number of members of the council was set as 11, and it was decided to set the date for the election to the Public Council in September 2020, taking into account the pandemic conditions.
It should be noted that the candidacy of 21 people who applied to participate in the elections was approved.
